Press Release, June 2011
7th International Conference on Urban Pests to be held in Brazil
Building on the success of the six previous conferences, and only held once every three years, the next International Conference on Urban Pests (ICUP) is to be held for the first time in South America. It will take place between 7-10 August in the World Heritage site, as designated by UNESCO, of Ouro Preto, Brazil.
This triennial conference offers an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas and information on the biology and control of pests in urban environments. At the previous conferences, delegates include prominent entomologists, pest management and chemical professionals, university scientists and authorities from all over the world.
The programme will cover the full range of international urban pests, ranging from ants, houseflies, mosquitoes, termites, cockroaches and bedbugs, to spiders, scorpions, rodents and bats. Issues such as global legislation, insecticide resistance and the future of urban pest research will also be covered. In addition to the platform sessions, there will also be poster presentations.
